Overview
You will support gastroenterology providers at Sutter Health in San Francisco, performing clinical and clerical duties that ensure smooth patient flow. What You'll Do8
- 1Prepare patients for exams by taking vital signs and documenting symptoms in the EHR.
- 2Administer injections and perform other basic Medical Assistant skills as directed by clinicians.
- 3Assist providers during gastroenterology procedures, ensuring equipment and supplies are ready.
- 4Manage patient flow by prioritizing tasks and coordinating with the care team to minimize delays.
- 5Communicate test results and instructions to patients and families clearly, using lay terms.
- 6Maintain exam rooms and sterility standards, restocking supplies after each encounter.
- 7Handle clerical duties including scheduling follow-ups and processing referrals.
- 8Support quality initiatives by logging data and flagging abnormal results in the EHR.
Requirements8
- 11+ year recent experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
- 2Completion of a Medical Assistant course approved by the Medical Board of California, or Sutter Health on-the-job training.
- 3Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.
- 4High School Diploma or GED.
- 5Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and EHR systems.
- 6Knowledge of medical procedures, anatomy, and terminology.
- 7Skill in taking vital signs, preparing patients, and administering injections.
- 8Strong communication skills for diverse audiences.
