Medical Assistant, Free Health Care Center
Overview
You will support patient-centered clinical operations at a free health care center serving uninsured and underinsured patients in Downtown Pittsburgh. As a Medical Assistant, you will own patient intake, vital signs, and care coordination. Working under licensed providers, you will prepare exam rooms, perform CLIA-waived tests, and document in the electronic health record. This role offers BLS/CPR certification support, 15 paid holidays, and free onsite parking. You will join a collaborative team recognized as a Best Place to Work in Western Pennsylvania for 2022-2026.
What You'll Do9
- 1Welcome patients and guide them through the intake process.
- 2Obtain and document patient vital signs accurately.
- 3Prepare examination and treatment rooms for patient visits.
- 4Stock clinical supplies and track inventory levels.
- 5Perform approved CLIA-waived lab tests and document results per clinic policy.
- 6Coordinate referrals to specialty care and community resources.
- 7Assist patients with scheduling follow-up appointments.
- 8Send patient reminders and follow-up communications.
- 9Document patient information in the electronic health record system.
Requirements7
- 11+ years of experience in healthcare, human services, or customer service preferred.
- 2Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- 3Ability to complete the Free Health Care Center Clinical Support Competency Program.
- 4Ability to work effectively with diverse and underserved populations.
- 5Exceptional customer service skills.
- 6Proficiency with computers and electronic health records.
- 7Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
