Medical Assistant, Community Health Clinic & EMR Systems
Overview
This role owns back-office patient flow in a high-volume community health clinic onsite in Los Angeles. You will support underserved populations with compassionate care, cultural sensitivity, and reliable service. You will work with a collaborative team including social workers and clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and HIPAA compliance. This position emphasizes hands-on patient preparation, EMR use, and meeting funder requirements. The focus is on consistent, patient-centered care within a mission-driven environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build patient intake workflows, room patients, and prepare charts to ensure smooth clinic flow
- 2Design and maintain monthly equipment logs for devices such as Hemocue and refrigerators
- 3Own referral submission and tracking to support timely patient care
- 4Deliver accurate documentation per funder and Quality Management requirements
- 5Meet HIPAA compliance standards at all times
- 6Greet and register patients, assist with form completion and scheduling
- 7Retrieve medical files and maintain medical records in EMR
- 8Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring they are neat, clean, and stocked
- 9Interview patients to collect medical history and vital signs
- 10Measure vital signs, height, weight, and BMI while maintaining sanitary supplies
Requirements10
- 1CPR/BLS certification
- 2Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from a recognized institution
- 3Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred
- 4Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- 5Ability to commit to a full-time onsite schedule, Monday–Friday
- 6Reliable attendance and punctuality
- 7Experience in primary care, community health, nonprofit, or FQHC settings preferred
- 8Phlebotomy certification (CPT) or CMA preferred for consideration with 1 year of experience
- 9Spanish language skills are a plus but not required
- 10Onsite, full-time role in Los Angeles with a contract-to-hire path
