Overview
Clinica Romero in Los Angeles seeks a Medical Assistant for a 4-6 month temp assignment. You will own the full patient visit cycle: vital signs, venipuncture, EKG, and assisting with exams. Reporting to the LVN Manager, you will deliver care across multiple clinic sites, supporting a bilingual team. This role stands out through its emphasis on patient education and direct impact on community health, with pay up to $25.86 per hour for certified assistants.
What You'll Do10
- 1Take and record vital signs, reporting abnormal findings to the provider.
- 2Perform venipuncture, EKG, finger sticks, and collect non-invasive specimens from adults and children.
- 3Administer medications and vaccines per CMOAR policy, including Pulmoaid.
- 4Document the reason for each patient visit and prepare consent forms as needed.
- 5Assist providers with examinations and procedures, explaining treatments to patients beforehand.
- 6Maintain laboratory logs, collect and label specimens, and prepare lab slips with 100% accuracy.
- 7Provide patient and family education on treatment and aftercare, confirming understanding.
- 8Follow infection control practices: Universal Precautions, hand washing, and sterile technique.
- 9Respond to emergency situations per established policies and maintain a safe, clean work area.
- 10Assist with translation between English and Spanish, and route clinical data forms to billing and medical records.
Requirements10
- 1Medical Assistant certification (Certified or non-certified accepted).
- 21+ years of experience in a related field if holding a Medical Assistant diploma; no experience required for certified candidates.
- 3CPR certification.
- 4High school graduate or equivalent.
- 5Basic computer skills and proficiency with MIS systems.
- 6Bilingual English/Spanish required.
- 7Ability to communicate effectively, work without close supervision, and be detail-oriented.
- 8Customer service skills: communication, empathy, patience, and technical knowledge.
- 9Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and meet deadlines.
- 10Ability to lift/move up to 15 pounds and work at multiple clinic sites.
