Overview
Lead hardware design for nuclear power systems in space and on the Moon and Mars. Own deliverables and drive requirements definition while coordinating cross-disciplinary teams. Develop clean sheet designs and support manufacturability across projects.
What You'll Do11
- 1Own hardware or deliverable related hardware as part of the larger space nuclear system
- 2Drive requirements definition/decomposition build/test cycles defend decisions across all phases of design
- 3Own CAD models manage configurations produce drawings DFMEA
- 4Support development testing test setup test documentation
- 5Coordinate closely with nuclear thermal structures manufacturing teams to ensure system architecture meets mission requirements
- 6Develop a clean sheet design through hardware procurement and dev/qual testing
- 7Support design reviews and integration/test planning for hardware define manufacturing plan generate work instructions
- 8Own or support design of tooling ground support equipment and facility upgrades
- 9Develop and document emerging processes
- 10Take concept through CDR and onward
- 11Design interfaces to and from other systems how hardware fits into larger system
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related physics-based field
- 21-3+ years of experience in space system product mechanical design system configuration and layout
- 3Expertise with CAD NX CATIA and experience with PLM and other manufacturing planning and management systems
- 4Master’s or PhD preferred in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related physics-based field
- 5Strong project management skills cross discipline communication and interpersonal abilities
- 6Understanding fundamentals in fluid systems solid mechanics and heat transfer
- 7Track record of initiative and going the extra mile
- 8Knowledge of materials science material selections and material compatibility
- 9Ability to conduct system sizing first order engineering analyses mechanical design and GD&T/ drawings experience
- 10Work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones
- 11Willingness to work on-site full time

$90 - $185k per year
