Mechanical Design Engineer, CAD & 3D Modeling for Mobile Equipment
Overview
Own the end-to-end mechanical design process for mobile equipment, from concept through release for manufacturing at scale. You will use SolidEdge and other CAD tools to design components and assemblies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure designs transition smoothly to production. This role emphasizes hands-on design in a shop environment and close coordination with electrical and hydraulic control engineers. What makes this role unique is the focus on operator safety, product/process improvements, and direct involvement with field-ready solutions.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build new options for existing products at customer request during rig sales.
- 2Collaborate with sales, production, engineering, and vendors to design drilling equipment prioritizing safety and competitive advantages.
- 3Work with electrical and hydraulic controls engineers to ensure cohesive design integration.
- 4Review and address engineering change requests from sales, service, and production.
- 5Assist internal production and service with implementation and service of new and existing designs.
- 6Generate component drawings and BOMs for rig designs sourced from outside vendors.
- 7Adhere to engineering processes and documentation standards.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline preferably ME or MET
- 25 - 10 years of 3D CAD design experience with SolidEdge preferred or equivalent
- 35+ years of BOM experience
- 45+ years of experience in FEA work
- 5Strong verbal and written communication and cross-functional collaboration
- 6Experience in mobile equipment manufacturing is a plus
- 75+ years of manufacturing design experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and moving parts in mobile equipment
- 8Comfortable in a job shop or fabrication environment
Salary Insight
$108 - $121k per year
