Mechanical Design Engineer SolidWorks
Overview
Lead design development and documentation of complex mechanical components and systems. Own projects from concept through production while creating high-quality 3D models and detailed engineering drawings. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce new products and mentor junior engineers.
What You'll Do11
- 1Design and develop mechanical components assemblies and systems using SolidWorks ensuring performance reliability and manufacturability requirements
- 2Create update and review 3D models 2D drawings and detailed bills of materials to support engineering production and procurement
- 3Utilize SolidWorks sheet metal weldments surfacing and simulation tools to develop robust production-ready designs
- 4Collaborate with cross-functional teams manufacturing quality and engineering to translate product requirements into practical solutions
- 5Support new product introduction by driving designs from concept through prototyping validation and release to production
- 6Maintain and manage CAD documentation including drawing revisions file structures templates and Product Data Management systems
- 7Develop accurate and complete BOMs and related documentation to facilitate efficient production planning and material procurement
- 8Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action focusing on design for manufacturability and design for assembly principles
- 9Troubleshoot design issues involving tolerances dimensional stack-ups drawings and production challenges implementing effective design improvements
- 10Assist with prototype builds preparing documentation supporting assembly and incorporating feedback into design iterations
- 11Create process and manage Engineering Change Orders contributing to overall product lifecycle management
Requirements9
- 1Minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical design engineering or a closely related role
- 2Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks including 3D modeling and 2D drafting for complex mechanical components and assemblies
- 3Proven experience creating and managing detailed bills of materials to support production and procurement
- 4Hands-on experience supporting new product introduction taking designs from concept through prototyping into production
- 5Strong understanding of mechanical design principles manufacturability and practical application in a production environment
- 6Ability to read create and interpret detailed engineering drawings including tolerances and geometric dimensioning
- 7Experience working in a manufacturing or production-oriented environment collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
- 8Problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot design issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- 9Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a small fast-paced engineering team
