Overview
The Mechanical Assembly Technician owns standard mechanical assembly tasks, inspections, and basic measurements according to work instructions and quality standards. This role begins to sequence own tasks and identify routine issues while collaborating with teammates and supervisors to support on-time quality production. Successful candidates demonstrate mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and reliable follow-through.
What You'll Do11
- 1Perform standard mechanical assembly tasks with minimal guidance following work instructions and engineering drawings
- 2Sequence own tasks and identify simple issues during assembly
- 3Conduct basic inspections and measurements to confirm part and assembly conformity
- 4Apply standard work and self-checks for accuracy while documenting quality information
- 5Demonstrate practical mechanical aptitude and correct tool usage including torque tools and fixturing
- 6Read and interpret basic blueprints and bills of materials with growing accuracy
- 7Enter accurate production information into inventory systems with minimal assistance
- 8Maintain housekeeping duties and apply lean manufacturing principles daily
- 9Manage daily workload independently and adjust when minor delays occur
- 10Identify and participate in continual process improvements
- 11Develop skills through external and internal training and job rotation
Requirements9
- 1High School Diploma or GED with minimum one year mechanical assembly manufacturing experience
- 2Basic ability to read work instructions and assembly drawings with guidance
- 3Ability to safely operate hand tools and basic power tools
- 4Strong basic math and English skills for interpreting work instructions
- 5Certification for assemblies preferred
- 6Two or more years of mechanical assembly experience in manufacturing
- 7Experience with tube bending and hydrostatic/pressure testing
- 8Preference for knowledge of lean manufacturing and ISO-controlled environments
- 9Familiarity with basic drawing software and drawing use
