Maintenance Specialist, Public Works & Flood Control
Overview
Own hands-on maintenance and repair of flood control structures in a desert environment at scale. Lead carpentry, electrical, irrigation, masonry, painting, and welding tasks to protect communities and enhance public spaces. Work across field and yard sites with bold safety standards and multi-use facilities support. This role offers meaningful public service with opportunities for growth in a dynamic county department.
What You'll Do5
- 1Build, repair, and maintain flood control structures including carpentry, electrical, irrigation, masonry, painting, pesticide application, plumbing, road repair, weed abatement, and welding to protect communities.
- 2Operate trucks, equipment, and hand tools safely while adhering to regulations and procedures.
- 3Assist the Field Supervisor with daily activity reporting, material usage, and sourcing of materials, supplies, and tools.
- 4Supervise maintenance crews in the absence of the Crew Leader or Field Supervisor.
- 5Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements5
- 1Two years of experience in semi-skilled repair and trades tasks in construction and maintenance
- 2High school diploma or GED
- 3Valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver`s License (CDL)
- 4Must obtain a tanker endorsement issued by the State of Arizona at time of hire
- 5Must possess a valid Pest Control Certification (Right of Way) or be able to obtain within six months of hire
