Overview

You own the physical plant and all mechanical, electrical, and resident care equipment at Tucker House Nursing and Rehab in Philadelphia. You keep systems safe and compliant with Life Safety Code and state and federal regulations. You work within a supportive team and interact with residents, families, and staff daily. This role demands hands-on expertise in plumbing, carpentry, and electricity, with a focus on safety and resident dignity.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Inspect and repair the facility plant, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, within your first 90 days.
  • 2Maintain all essential mechanical, electrical, and resident care equipment in safe operating condition.
  • 3Apply technical knowledge to diagnose and fix equipment malfinations promptly.
  • 4Follow emergency and disaster procedures, ensuring resident safety at all times.
  • 5Document maintenance activities and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
  • 6Communicate effectively with staff and residents to address maintenance needs.
  • 7Participate in safety training and apply infection control procedures, including universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens.

Requirements8

  • 1High School Diploma or equivalent, plus vocational training in a skilled trade.
  • 2Valid license or certificate in one of these trades: Plumbing, Carpentry, Electricity.
  • 32+ years experience in physical plant operations and equipment maintenance in an institutional health care setting.
  • 4Working knowledge of state and federal regulations for long-term care maintenance.
  • 5Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions.
  • 6Sufficient mobility and strength to move freely and assist in resident evacuation.
  • 7Compliance with facility policies on attendance, punctuality, and dress code.
  • 8Freedom from illegal drug use and alcohol in the workplace.
