Litigation Legal Assistant, Florida Construction Defect
Overview
You will own case administration for a busy Tampa construction defect and insurance recovery team, moving cases from filing through resolution. You will coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and clients across Florida state and federal courts, using e-filing systems and Microsoft Office. Your work directly supports trial preparation, discovery, and deadline compliance for a growing law firm. What You'll Do9
- 1Prepare, edit, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
- 2File documents electronically in Florida state and federal courts via e-filing systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- 3Manage attorney calendars, monitor deadlines, and schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and meetings with Outlook.
- 4Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all records and documents remain current in iManage or similar case management software.
- 5Assist attorneys with discovery and document production, including Relativity for review and production.
- 6Support trial preparation by Coordinating exhibits, witnesses, and case materials using TrialDirector.
- 7Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and vendors, managing expectations and resolving issues.
- 8Track litigation deadlines and help ensure compliance with court rules and scheduling requirements, using Clio or MyCase.
- 9Draft correspondence and status reports for attorneys, summarizing case progress and next steps.
Requirements8
- 13+ years of litigation legal assistant experience in a law firm setting, specifically with Florida state and federal courts.
- 2Strong understanding of Florida court procedures and e-filing systems, including PACER and CM/ECF.
- 3Proven ability to support litigation through all stages, from pleadings to trial preparation.
- 4Prior exposure to construction defect, insurance coverage, or commercial litigation preferred, using SharePoint for document management.
- 5Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and legal case management software like iManage.
- 6Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
- 7Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional demeanor in client and court interactions.
- 8Commitment to exceptional support, including meticulous attention to detail and confidentiality.
