Associate Attorney, Construction Litigation Defense
Overview
This role owns a caseload of 15+ cases in construction defect and general liability defense. You report to a partner and handle all phases from pleadings to trial. Work hybrid from Miami or Boca Raton with a team of 150+ attorneys nationwide. The firm offers one-on-one mentorship and quarterly bonuses for hitting billable targets. What You'll Do8
- 1Draft responses to petitions, complaints, motions, and written discovery across 15+ active cases.
- 2Attend court hearings, defend and take depositions, and argue motions before judges.
- 3Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, mediations, and trial proceedings.
- 4Manage case strategy under partner supervision, including risk assessment and settlement recommendations.
- 5Communicate client updates clearly and maintain confidentiality per FL Bar ethics rules.
- 6Bill a minimum of 1850 hours annually with detailed time entries.
- 7Use Microsoft Office and legal software to manage documents and track deadlines.
- 8Collaborate with partners and paralegals to meet case milestones and client expectations.
Requirements9
- 1FL Bar license in good standing.
- 2JD from an ABA-approved law school.
- 35+ years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in construction defect.
- 4Experience managing 15+ cases simultaneously, including depositions and court appearances.
- 5Skilled in drafting motions and discovery with strong written and oral communication.
- 6Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- 7Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- 8Commitment to confidentiality and ethical behavior per FL Bar rules.
- 9Mediation and trial experience preferred but not required.
