Overview
Litigation Associate will own a full caseload in the Construction Group, managing cases from pleadings through trial in Illinois state and federal courts. The team includes 265 attorneys across 12 offices, offering depth in complex construction disputes. This role provides direct client contact and mentorship from senior partners, with a clear path to growth. The position targets attorneys with 2+ years of civil litigation experience and Illinois licensure.
What You'll Do8
- 1Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery in Illinois state and federal court construction cases
- 2Conduct and defend depositions in tort and injury claims, coordinating with expert witnesses
- 3Manage discovery document review using Relativity and Concordance, flagging key evidence
- 4Attend court hearings and status conferences, arguing motions before judges
- 5Communicate with clients on case strategy and progress, delivering weekly reports
- 6Prepare settlement agreements and mediation statements, negotiating with opposing counsel
- 7Support trial preparation, including witness preparation and exhibit compilation
- 8Handle all aspects of litigation from initial filing through appeal
Requirements7
- 12+ years of civil litigation experience, with preference for construction or tort
- 2Active Illinois bar license
- 3Strong legal writing skills, demonstrated by writing samples
- 4Experience with e-discovery tools like Relativity or Concordance
- 5Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while managing independent caseloads
- 6Experience in Illinois state and federal court procedures
- 7Proven track record of client communication and reporting
