Overview

You will own a caseload of insurance defense matters from intake to resolution, gaining courtroom and deposition experience in Illinois state courts. You will join a boutique litigation team of 10+ attorneys and paralegals, working alongside partners who mentor and support your growth. This role offers 1-5 years experience, a clear path to partnership, and direct client contact from day one.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Manage your own caseload of 20-30 active insurance defense files, from pleadings to trial.
  • 2Draft and file motions, discovery, and settlement demands in Illinois state courts.
  • 3Conduct and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.
  • 4Attend court hearings and pretrial conferences independently.
  • 5Brief and argue dispositive motions before state judges.
  • 6Coordinate with expert witnesses and prepare them for testimony.
  • 7Communicate with insurance adjusters and clients on case strategy and resolutions.
  • 8Assist partners in trial preparation, including jury instructions and exhibit lists.

Requirements8

  • 11-5 years of experience in litigation, with insurance defense preferred.
  • 2Active license to practice law in Illinois.
  • 3Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to draft persuasive motions.
  • 4Experience taking or defending depositions.
  • 5Familiarity with Illinois civil procedure and rules of evidence.
  • 6Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • 7Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 8Commitment to professional growth and mentorship.
