We seek a Lead Custodian to oversee daily facility upkeep and mentor a team of adults with disabilities. The ideal candidate will guide staff in cleaning techniques and foster skill development while maintaining a safe environment. This role emphasizes leadership and hands-on oversight.

- 1Teach custodial staff proper cleaning techniques and safety procedures
- 2Provide encouragement and build confidence within the team
- 3Explain tasks and performance standards clearly
- 4Observe and provide constructive feedback to employees
- 5Track performance and manage necessary accommodations
- 6Clean and disinfect restrooms and common areas thoroughly
- 7Sweep mop and vacuum floors in offices hallways classrooms and shared spaces
- 8Empty trash and recycling bins and transport waste properly
- 9Wipe down windows doors walls and glass surfaces
- 10Restock restroom and breakroom supplies
- 11Dust desks shelves and other surfaces
- 12Maintain entrance areas stairs and elevators
- 13Identify and report maintenance issues such as broken lights or leaks
- 14Secure building by locking and unlocking doors at shift changes
- 15Operate cleaning equipment safely including vacuums and floor machines
- 16Handle cleaning products responsibly and follow safety protocols
- 17Greet team and explain daily tasks in simple steps
- 18Show new tasks and remind team about safety measures
- 19Work alongside team during shifts and assist with cleaning
- 20Teach new skills and promote independence
- 21Check progress and provide quick tips during shifts
- 22Ensure safety compliance and proper equipment usage
- 23Complete end-of-day tasks like trash removal and final cleaning
- 24Put away supplies and clean shared tools
- 25Discuss daily successes and improvement areas
- 26Maintain organizational systems and track supply needs
- 27Obtain and maintain valid driver’s license
- 28Hold Real ID certification
- 29Obtain government base access authorization
Requirements8
- 1Minimum 2 years hands-on janitorial experience in commercial industrial educational or government facilities
- 2Strong knowledge of cleaning practices and safety procedures
- 3Experience operating commercial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers buffers carpet extractors and power washers
- 4Ability to give instructions and demonstrate cleaning tasks
- 5Organizational skills to follow routines and track supplies
- 6Valid driver’s license
- 7Real ID certification
- 8Ability to obtain and maintain government base access
