What You'll Do8
- 1Draft and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories and requests for production, within 30 days of assignment.
- 2Conduct and defend depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses in complex casualty matters.
- 3Prepare and argue motions including motions to dismiss, summary judgment, and discovery motions in state and federal court.
- 4Manage case files from inception through trial, including trial preparation and courtroom support.
- 5Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategy and evaluate exposure for insurance carriers.
- 6Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and claims adjusters to keep cases on schedule.
- 7Research legal issues using Westlaw and LexisNexis to draft pleadings and briefs.
- 8Negotiate settlements and attend mandatory settlement conferences before trial.
Requirements6
- 1Active license to practice law in California and member in good standing with the State Bar.
- 23-5 years of experience in civil litigation with a focus on insurance defense.
- 3Proven track record of handling depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- 4Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience drafting discovery and pleadings.
