Overview
As an Associate Attorney in Lydecker's California practice group, you will own a caseload of up to 13 active matters in Labor and Employment, General Liability, or Mass Tort. You will work with Lydecker's AV-rated firm, collaborating with partners and mentoring junior associates. We offer hybrid or remote schedules, quarterly bonuses, and a clear path to senior roles like Senior Associate, Of Counsel, or Partner.
What You'll Do8
- 1Draft and respond to petitions and complaints, motions, and written discovery.
- 2Attend hearings and client meetings, presenting arguments and updates.
- 3Prepare for and attend depositions, taking and defending testimony.
- 4Assist in mediation and trial preparation, including evidence and witness prep.
- 5Manage up to 13 cases simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and strategy.
- 6Mentor junior associates, guiding their casework and career growth.
- 7Bill billable hours accurately and daily, meeting firm targets.
- 8Handle additional duties assigned by supervising partners.
Requirements8
- 1Active California bar license in good standing.
- 2JD from an ABA approved law school.
- 32+ years of civil defense litigation experience in General Liability, Mass Tort, Toxic Tort, Construction Defect, Labor and Employment, or insurance defense.
- 4Proven ability to manage 13+ cases simultaneously, with experience taking and defending depositions, court appearances, motion and discovery drafting.
- 5Trial and mediation experience is a strong plus, as is mentoring junior associates.
- 6Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal software.
- 7Strong written and oral communication, able to draft clear legal documents and argue persuasively.
- 8Ethical conduct, maintaining client confidentiality and following legal ethics rules.
