Instructional Assistant, Special Needs Preschool & School Support
Overview
Supports teachers in a diverse special education classroom providing materials and hands on activities for students with special needs. Works with individuals or small groups on academic, social, emotional, language and behavior skills. Assists with lesson planning input and classroom setup and monitors safety on playground and in cafeteria. Partners with families and staff to support student progress.
What You'll Do10
- 1Builds and modifies instructional materials for special needs students and supports classroom activities
- 2Monitors student behavior, applies school standards, and documents incidents
- 3Supports feeding toileting and physical activities for students as needed
- 4Assists with adaptive equipment and prepares classrooms for activities
- 5Communicates progress and concerns to families and teachers and helps implement lesson plans
- 6Prepares incident reports and maintains safety on campus during meals and recess
- 7Accompanies students between classrooms, library, playground, cafeteria and buses to ensure orderly behavior
- 8Performs classroom setup and cleanup including furniture arrangement and materials distribution
- 9Copies and prepares educational materials and supports group activities
- 10Assists with planning and feedback on lessons based on student progress
Requirements10
- 1High School diploma or equivalent
- 2CPR certification within 30 days of hire
- 3Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)
- 4Six months experience with children in a learning environment (preferred)
- 5Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- 6Ability to follow lesson plans and school rules
- 7Strong communication with parents and staff
- 8Willingness to work onsite in Phoenix, AZ
- 9Basic classroom technology use
- 10Pass required background checks
