I-9 Auditor / Compliance Specialist
Overview
I-9 Auditor owns end-to-end compliance for employee Form I-9 documentation at a high-volume remediation project. You'll audit Sections 1, 2, and 3, correct errors, and support E-Verify processes. Work with HR stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure federal compliance. This 3-month engagement demands urgency and precision in a deadline-driven setting.
What You'll Do10
- 1Audit employee Form I-9s for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal requirements.
- 2Review Section 1, Section 2, and applicable Section 3 data and supporting documentation.
- 3Identify missing information, discrepancies, and technical errors in I-9 records.
- 4Perform I-9 remediation and corrections per company procedures and federal rules.
- 5Research and resolve discrepancies found during the audit process.
- 6Partner with HR staff to obtain missing or corrected information.
- 7Support E-Verify and employment eligibility verification as needed.
- 8Maintain detailed audit logs and documentation for every reviewed I-9.
- 9Escalate complex or high-risk compliance issues to management.
- 10Complete assignments within the 3-month project timeline.
Requirements10
- 12+ years in HR compliance or related field.
- 2Hands-on experience auditing Form I-9s.
- 3Proven record of completing I-9 remediation and corrections.
- 4Strong working knowledge of Form I-9 and employment eligibility verification.
- 5Knowledge of E-Verify and related processes.
- 6High attention to detail and accuracy.
- 7Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- 8Ability to handle a high-volume audit while meeting deadlines.
- 9Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- 10High School Diploma or equivalent.
