Hydraulic Engineer, Water Resources & Open-Channel Modeling
Overview
Own hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for existing and proposed conditions at scale. You will support bridge and culvert hydraulics, open-channel flow analyses, and roadway drainage and storm sewer design within a collaborative transportation and drainage team. You will prepare drainage reports, memos, and calculations using industry tools and coordinate with permitting agencies. This role centers on hands-on modeling and cross-discipline collaboration to deliver drainage solutions.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build hydrologic and hydraulic models for existing and proposed conditions to support project decisions
- 2Design bridge and culvert hydraulics and open-channel flow analyses
- 3Assist with roadway drainage and storm sewer design to meet project requirements
- 4Prepare drainage reports, technical memos, and calculations
- 5Use industry standard modeling tools to produce deliverables
- 6Collaborate with transportation and drainage teams to align on design assumptions
- 7Support permitting and agency coordination throughout project lifecycles
- 8Work under senior drainage engineers to develop practical drainage solutions
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Water Resources emphasis
- 22–5 years of experience in water resources drainage or hydraulics
- 3Hands-on experience with hydraulic and hydrologic analysis
- 4Proficiency with HEC-RAS, TR-20, and TR-55
- 5Strong technical writing and communication skills
- 6EIT certification required or actively pursuing
- 7Experience supporting transportation projects such as bridges, roadways, and drainage systems
- 8Familiarity with DOT or municipal design standards
- 9Experience preparing drainage reports and technical documentation
- 10Experience with Microstation and AutoCAD
