Civil Engineer, Land Development & Site Design
Overview
You will own site design and permitting for single-family land development projects from due diligence through construction support. You'll prepare grading, drainage, utility, and roadway plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, and run hydrology and hydraulic calculations. You'll coordinate with municipalities, agencies, and interdisciplinary teams. This role offers direct exposure to full project lifecycles within a consulting firm.
What You'll Do9
- 1Prepare AutoCAD Civil 3D plans for grading, drainage, water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
- 2Design roadways and access for single-family communities, ensuring compliance with local standards.
- 3Perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations for stormwater management systems.
- 4Develop stormwater reports and drainage studies for regulatory submission.
- 5Coordinate with municipal agencies for permitting and approvals, responding to plan review comments.
- 6Conduct feasibility studies and due diligence evaluations for potential development sites.
- 7Support project managers with cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and scheduling.
- 8Collaborate with surveyors, environmental consultants, and geotechnical engineers.
- 9Provide construction phase support, including RFI responses and site visits.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 22–6 years of land development experience within a consulting firm.
- 3Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for grading, drainage, and utility plans.
- 4Working knowledge of local zoning and permitting processes.
- 5Strong organizational and communication skills.
- 6Preferred: EIT certification or on track to obtain.
- 7Preferred: experience with stormwater modeling software like HydroCAD or HEC-RAS.
- 8Preferred: experience with single-family or small-scale site development projects.
