What You'll Do14

  • 1Perform routine histology tasks including embedding cutting H&E staining and cover slipping
  • 2Execute high complexity testing such as grossing processing immunohistochemistry using automatic staining systems
  • 3Maintain diagnostic viability by verifying patient labeling and case identification throughout processing
  • 4Document procedures in laboratory logs and LIS following SOPs
  • 5Manage equipment maintenance and report repair needs
  • 6Identify and resolve issues affecting test performance or reporting
  • 7Assist with related projects to support laboratory operations
  • 8Follow directions and understand resource availability
  • 9Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet tools
  • 10Multi-task effectively in fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • 11Drive results through standardized procedures and continuous improvement initiatives
  • 12Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • 13Collaborate with team to achieve organizational goals

Requirements11

  • 11+ years experience in IHC/histology laboratory or 2 years as Histology Technician Trainee
  • 2Bachelor's degree in chemical biological clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from accredited institution
  • 3Associate degree with required science coursework or 60 semester hours including specified science requirements
  • 4Completion of clinical laboratory training program
  • 5HT/HTL certification preferred
  • 6QIHC strongly advised
  • 7Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • 8Visual acuity for detailed analysis
  • 9Manual dexterity for lab equipment use
  • 10Stamina for prolonged standing and repetitive motions
  • 11Exposure to biohazards chemicals and lab environments
