Histotechnician PRN - Caris Life Sciences
Overview
The PRN Histotechnician will support the IHC laboratory at Caris Life Sciences with microtomy and re-embedding tasks. This role offers meaningful work that improves patient outcomes across multiple diseases. You will work under direct supervision following established procedures.
What You'll Do11
- 1Perform routine histology tasks including embedding and microtomy
- 2Use cassette printer timers microscope oven and cover slipping equipment
- 3Execute laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures
- 4Maintain diagnostic viability of all specimens through accurate patient labeling
- 5Document processes in laboratory logs and LIS as directed
- 6Track equipment maintenance logs and report repair needs
- 7Identify issues affecting test performance and take corrective actions
- 8Assist with other related duties and special projects
- 9Handle inventory using copiers fax machines and PDF scanners
- 10Maintain visual acuity and analytical skills for fine detail detection
- 11Follow sterile techniques and safety protocols
Requirements9
- 1High school diploma with one year microtomy and embedding experience
- 2HT/HTL ASCP certification preferred
- 3Physical stamina to work seated or standing for extended periods
- 4Manual dexterity for laboratory equipment operation
- 5Ability to lift fifty pounds
- 6Exposure to formaldehyde xylene and DAB chemicals
- 7Understanding of bio-hazardous material handling procedures
- 8Experience with microtomes for prolonged use
- 9Willingness to meet travel demands including evenings weekends and holidays
