What You'll Do10
- 1Perform diverse technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations including specimen collection gross tissue description dissection routine processing decalcification tissue embedding microtomy frozen section techniques special staining
- 2Evaluate maintain and enhance laboratory procedures to ensure consistent output while researching developing new methodologies
- 3Operate and maintain instrumentation recommend new equipment maintain detailed workflow records and modify procedures as needed
- 4Identify quality improvement opportunities assist supervisors with documentation prepare reports and adjust processes accordingly
- 5Lead team members provide training evaluate employee performance and support operational changes
- 6Ensure confidentiality safeguard patient findings and adhere to strict laboratory protocols
- 7Manage staffing across all three shifts weekends and holidays maintain documentation for specimen information and instrument performance
- 8Develop and update policy manuals oversee inventory supplies utilize computer applications for data entry and reporting
- 9Adapt to dynamic environments prioritize tasks and optimize lab performance through systematic organization
- 10Assess and design work systems to improve overall laboratory efficiency
Requirements8
- 1HTL Certification via ASCP equivalent or 5 years Histology Immunohistochemistry experience
- 2Bachelor of Arts or Science in Histotechnology or related field with foreign credential evaluation preferred
- 3Associates degree or equivalent work experience
- 4Demonstrated ability to interpret and develop policy manuals
- 5Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration
- 6Experience with basic computer applications for data entry record keeping and reporting
- 7Ability to adapt to changing environments organize priorities and manage resources efficiently
- 8Capacity to assess tasks and develop optimized systems for laboratory performance
