Overview
Heavy Machine Mechanic owns preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Goodwin Brothers' construction equipment and on-highway trucks in a solo Kansas City role. You'll work from the Blue River Waste Water Plant, keeping cranes, excavators, dozers, and diesel trucks running safely and efficiently. As a member of the 101 Operators Union, you'll take full ownership of uptime for a fleet supporting heavy industrial and municipal projects. What You'll Do7
- 1Diagnose and repair heavy equipment including cranes, diesel trucks, excavators, dozers, loaders, and backhoes within the first 90 days.
- 2Perform preventive maintenance: cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment to prevent downtime.
- 3Dismantle and reassemble heavy machinery using hoists and hand tools.
- 4Operate and inspect machines to identify defects, then overhaul and test for efficiency.
- 5Replace worn or damaged parts and troubleshoot electrical systems for proper wiring and performance.
- 6Complete work orders, parts requests, timecards, and pre-trip/post-trip inspections daily.
- 7Respond to service calls and roadside repairs as needed, ensuring safety compliance at all times.
Requirements9
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent required; trade school or related training desired.
- 2Valid CDL Class A or B license, or ability to obtain within 60 days.
- 3Previous experience as a mechanic or technician focusing on heavy equipment, with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system skills.
- 4Experience repairing and maintaining cranes highly desired.
- 5Member of or willing to join the 101 Operators Union in Kansas City.
- 6Ability to perform physical labor including lifting and moving equipment parts.
- 7Proven ability to work independently in a solo role.
- 8Strong diagnostic skills for sourcing parts and repairs.
- 9Commitment to safety and compliance with all policies.
