Overview

You will own mobile diesel maintenance and repair for commercial truck fleets at client sites across the Kansas City area, handling everything from routine service to complex diagnostics. You will report to the Service Manager and work with Peterbilt, International, Hino, Isuzu, Ford, and Cummins systems, supported by a team of tenured techs. You will drive a service truck stocked with tools and parts, responding to after-hours calls and keeping equipment running. What You'll Do10

  • 1Maintain all aspects of truck equipment, including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and documented inspections to company standards.
  • 2Manage inventory on the service truck, keeping it fully stocked with parts and tools for on-site repairs.
  • 3Troubleshoot malfunctions by reading job orders, observing and listening to vehicles, and using diagnostic equipment to plan repairs.
  • 4Perform major repairs including injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, and transmissions on Class 7 and Class 8 trucks.
  • 5Replace or recharge batteries and adjust safety devices, protective guards, and loose bolts to ensure safe operation.
  • 6Lubricate moving parts and test drive vehicles to verify repairs meet specifications.
  • 7Document all work in the mobile service program and complete paperwork accurately in a timely manner.
  • 8Respond to customer inquiries, explain repairs performed, and recommend future services needed within three months.
  • 9Stay available for after-hours service calls and maintain an open work schedule as assigned.
  • 10Participate in ongoing training and apply new skills to daily work.

Requirements5

  • 11-2 years experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or truck service facility.
  • 2Current CDL preferred but not required.
  • 3Medical card as required by the FMVS.
  • 4Mechanical aptitude and technical ability required.
  • 5Certifications in Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, or ASE are preferred and rewarded.
