What You'll Do10

  • 1Launch and manage branch health and wellness programs, including Active Older Adults offerings, according to YMCA standards and safety procedures.
  • 2Build referral networks with public health, physician, and payer communities to promote YMCA's Evidence-Based Programs.
  • 3Recruit, hire, and supervise all wellness staff and volunteers, conducting quarterly performance reviews to maintain program quality.
  • 4Develop and monitor the department budget to ensure financial stability, aligning expenditures with membership growth targets.
  • 5Schedule and deliver wellness programming, acting as an instructor and personal trainer when needed.
  • 6Design an annual calendar of events for seniors, including lunch and learns, mall walks, health fairs, and monthly bus trips.
  • 7Boost member engagement and retention through targeted strategies and personalized wellness plans.
  • 8Produce program materials, data reports, and promotional content to drive participation and visibility.
  • 9Maintain fitness equipment and facilities, handling purchasing, repairs, and preventive upkeep.
  • 10Lead the annual fundraising campaign and support committee initiatives, serving as a wellness ambassador.

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, physical education, recreation, or related field, or 2+ years in health/fitness.
  • 2Group Exercise and Personal Training certifications, or the ability to earn within 3 months of hire.
  • 32+ years of supervisory experience in health and wellness, with staff recruitment and training.
  • 4Proficiency in staff supervision, including hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation.
  • 5Experience planning activities for senior adults, with a focus on physical, mental, and social health.
  • 6Current CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid certifications, plus YMCA-required trainings.
  • 7Strong interpersonal and communication skills for presentations and community outreach.
  • 8Organized, detail-oriented, with budgeting and data management skills.
  • 9Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
