Overview

Maintenance mechanics perform skilled work across carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, plumbing, and HVAC tasks to keep campus buildings safe and functional at scale. The role supports faculty, staff, students, and visitors in a large bioscience campus environment. Work may occur evenings or weekends to reduce noise and support non traditional hours. Collaboration with skilled trades and facilities teams is essential to maintain classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and public spaces.

What You'll Do6

  • 1Build repairs and alterations to buildings and equipment under supervision
  • 2Assist with patch and paint, heating cooling, flooring, lighting, event setup, and material delivery
  • 3Support daily activities of skilled trades staff on assigned jobs
  • 4Maintain facility grounds and environment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition
  • 5Maintain records of repairs and equipment requiring future service
  • 6Ensure safety and cleanliness of classrooms, labs, libraries, and public spaces

Requirements5

  • 1High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2Minimum of three years of relevant maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and training
  • 3Valid driver’s license and ability to drive per university Fleet Safety Policy
  • 4Knowledge of carpentry drywall repair flooring painting concrete basic plumbing heating and air conditioning and landscape maintenance
  • 5Experience in building maintenance and repair preferred
