General Foreman Sheetmetal, 8+ Years Experience in Construction Leadership
Overview
The General Foreman - Sheetmetal will oversee multiple foremen and crews on large scale projects in Dallas, directing the sheet metal workforce to deliver safe, high quality work on schedule. You will set production expectations, allocate labor and equipment, and ensure safety and craftsmanship across crews. You will act as the bridge between field supervision and project leadership, coordinating with the superintendent on manpower and material needs and developing foremen and journeymen into senior leaders. This role offers growth within a large mechanical and electrical contracting firm and exposure to hyperscale data centers, hospitals, and high rise commercial projects.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build a safe work culture by enforcing standards and conducting toolbox talks
- 2Design and assign tasks for crews to meet production goals and quality standards
- 3Lead on-the-job training for apprentices and mentor journeymen
- 4Drive daily and weekly activity plans aligned to project schedules using CAD drawings and blueprints
- 5Ship completed work that meets specifications and is ready for inspection
- 6Diagnose and resolve scheduling conflicts with other crews and trades to minimize downtime
- 7Inspect completed work and initiate timely resolutions to defects or deviations
- 8Report production progress, safety incidents, and quality metrics to the superintendent
- 9Scale manpower and equipment usage to optimize productivity and safety
- 10Own the foreman log, THA documentation, timesheets, and quality reports to support project controls
Requirements10
- 18+ years' experience as a qualified tradesperson including prior Foreman experience
- 2OSHA-30 certification must be obtained within six months of hire
- 3High school degree or equivalent
- 4Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- 5Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies
- 6Excellent planning and scheduling abilities
- 7Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
- 8Ability to manage multiple trades and diverse teams
- 9Proficiency with computers and technology for reporting and documentation
- 10Onsite Dallas, TX based role with union membership required
