Fabrication Shop Foreman, Metal Fabrication & Welding Management
Overview
Fabrication Shop Foreman will lead daily operations in a fast-paced job shop handling new fabrication and repair projects at scale. You will coordinate welders, fabricators, and helpers, managing materials and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate builds and repairs. This role sits within a collaborative team of engineering, project management, and customers to deliver custom solutions. What You'll Do10
- 1Lead shop personnel including welders, fabricators, and helpers to meet daily production goals
- 2Plan, schedule, and prioritize both new fabrication projects and repair/maintenance jobs for on-time delivery
- 3Evaluate incoming repair work, determine scope, labor, materials, and turnaround time
- 4Interpret blueprints and drawings, and reverse‑engineer parts for repairs or replacements
- 5Coordinate workflow to handle urgent repair jobs without disrupting fabrication deadlines
- 6Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to meet customer needs
- 7Ensure all work meets quality standards for fit-up, weld integrity, and dimensional accuracy
- 8Enforce OSHA and company safety standards and maintain safe shop practices
- 9Collaborate with engineering, project management, and customers on custom and repair solutions
- 10Train, mentor, and evaluate shop staff to promote skill development across fabrication and repair
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred
- 25+ years in metal fabrication, welding, machining, and/or industrial repair
- 32+ years supervisory experience in a job shop or similar environment
- 4Strong ability to read blueprints and analyze/repair worn or damaged components
- 5Experience with welding processes MIG, TIG, and Stick
- 6Familiarity with shop equipment such as press brakes, shears, saws, CNC machines
- 7Experience estimating or scoping repair jobs with limited initial information is a plus
- 8Strong problem‑solving skills in diagnosing and resolving repair issues
- 9Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality standards
- 10Ability to work onsite in Baytown, TX and coordinate with multiple teams
