Overview

You will lead the night shift fitter/welder team at Panelmatic, building structural frames and assemblies for custom control panels. You will own fabrication from drawings to final inspection, ensuring precision and quality on every unit. Your team of 3-5 welders will rely on your expertise in MIG welding and blueprint reading to meet production targets. This role requires 2+ years of welding experience and the ability to lift 50 lbs. You will drive continuous improvement in a safety-first environment, with full support from management.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Lead the night shift team in interpreting fabrication and weld drawings, ensuring accurate assembly of structural components.
  • 2Perform MIG welding on mild and stainless steel to quality standards, mentoring team members on technique.
  • 3Measure, fit, and align channels, beams, and components using squares, grinders, and layout tools, verifying tolerances.
  • 4Operate shears, brake press, torches, plasma cutters, and overhead cranes safely, setting up equipment for production runs.
  • 5Conduct finishing work including grinding, cleaning, and conformance checks, documenting inspection results.
  • 6Enforce 5S principles, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area for the team.
  • 7Coordinate with supervisors and cross-functional teams on materials, progress, and issues, escalating as needed.
  • 8Inspect completed units and notify the Inspector when ready, ensuring final quality before handoff.

Requirements7

  • 12+ years of experience in metal fabrication or welding, including structural fit-up and layout.
  • 2Proficiency in MIG welding on mild and stainless steel, with ability to pass weld tests.
  • 3Ability to read blueprints and use measurement tools like squares, calipers, and fillet gauges.
  • 4Experience operating shears, brake press, plasma cutter, and overhead crane.
  • 5Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • 6Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • 7High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
