Overview

What You'll Do8
- 1Interpret fabrication and weld drawings to prepare, align, and assemble structural components for enclosures.
- 2Perform MIG welding on mild and stainless steel, meeting quality standards for distortion and strength.
- 3Measure, fit, and align channels and beams using squares, grinders, and layout tools.
- 4Operate shears, brake press, torches, plasma cutters, and overhead cranes for material prep and cutting.
- 5Finish welds through grinding and cleaning, verifying conformance to drawings and QA procedures.
- 6Document inspection results and flag nonconformities to the lead or inspector.
- 7Maintain a clean, organized work area per 5S principles and return tools to their locations.
- 8Coordinate with supervisors and cross-functional teams on material needs and production progress.
Requirements8
- 11–3 years in metal fabrication or welding with structural fit-up experience.
- 2Proficiency in MIG welding on mild and stainless steel per established standards.
- 3Ability to read blueprints and use measurement tools like squares and fillet gauges.
- 42+ years operating shear, brake press, turret punch, CNC laser, ironworker, band saw, and welding machines.
- 52+ years with cutting torch, plasma cutter, grinder, overhead crane, and hand tools.
- 6Physical capability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- 7Track record of organizational and time management skills in a fabrication setting.
- 8Blueprint interpretation and dimensional verification for QA documentation.
