Freight Operations Supervisor, Logistics & Transportation
Overview
Lead and supervise freight operations at scale within a major logistics network. Drive efficiency in LTL environments, manage personnel, and ensure compliant, on-time delivery. What You'll Do10
- 1Lead all aspects of freight operations and supervise hourly staff across multiple shifts
- 2Develop and implement work procedures to meet evolving department demands and optimize network performance
- 3Plan employee schedules, manage tonnage and payroll, and ensure timely, damage free customer freight
- 4Coach and develop staff on proper techniques and quality standards including new hire evaluations
- 5Enforce FMCSR OSHA CCMTA NSC DOT policies and workplace procedures and drive compliance to lower costs and improve load averages
- 6Direct a team to consistently meet productivity goals and participate in safety and engagement committees
- 7Provide actionable recommendations on hiring, suspensions, and terminations and present improvement plans
- 8Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and correct unsafe conditions
- 9Communicate corporate updates and policy revisions through daily staff meetings
- 10Minimize shipment rehandles by prioritizing direct loading and sector loading while maintaining quality standards
Requirements4
- 12 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment
- 2Knowledge of the LTL industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules and regulations
- 3Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends
- 4Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Distribution or Logistics or 4 years of related work or military experience
