Logistics Supervisor, Freight Forwarding & 3PL Operations
Overview
Lead daily transportation, transloading, and ocean import operations for a global logistics provider at a Torrance site. Own team leadership, regulatory compliance, and customer service while maintaining efficient supply chain performance in a fast-paced environment. This role blends hands-on problem solving with continuous improvement across multiple logistics functions. You will collaborate with warehouse, dock, and transportation teams to deliver reliable shipments and superior service.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead, train, and coach transload, logistics, and operations personnel to meet productivity and service standards
- 2Oversee ocean import shipments, track progress, review documents, and provide milestone updates
- 3Coordinate ISF compliance, customs entries, arrival notices, and shipment releases
- 4Dispatch and monitor LCL and FCL freight, coordinate providers, and track delivery performance
- 5Resolve delays, holds, damages, shortages, overages, and other operational exceptions
- 6Collaborate with warehouse and dock teams on inbound receiving, transloading, outbound shipments, and trailer requirements
- 7Review vendor invoices, manage shipment payments, and support billing and file closeout processes
- 8Maintain proactive customer communication and shipment status updates to ensure satisfaction
- 9Develop and improve operational procedures, work instructions, and compliance initiatives
- 10Crosstrain team members and drive continuous improvement across logistics functions
Requirements10
- 15+ years in freight forwarding, import/export operations, transportation management, or 3PL environments
- 23-5 years managing a team of 4-6 employees
- 3Strong understanding of ocean import operations, customs coordination, LCL/FCL, and transloading
- 4Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume setting with multiple priorities
- 5Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- 6Demonstrated stability and commitment to long-term growth
- 7High School Diploma or equivalent
- 8Experience with CargoWise software and MS Office Suite preferred
- 9Knowledge of ISF filings, customs documentation, and shipment compliance requirements
- 10Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
