Freight Forwarding Operation Specialist to Supervisor, Logistics & Compliance

Own global freight forwarding operations at scale within a Japanese company in Phoenix, focusing on safety, compliance, and cross functional collaboration. Work with logistics technicians, customer service, and quality to move shipments smoothly. Lead hazmat handling, documentation, and route optimization while adhering to international and domestic regulations. The role blends hands on operations with potential supervisory responsibilities and efficiency improvements.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and optimize shipment tracking, traces, and status updates with IMS and carrier systems
- 2Design and manage carrier and route assignments to balance cost and speed with hazmat compliance
- 3Lead safety and quality checks to ensure daily logistics activities meet Do It Right the First Time standards
- 4Collaborate with logistics technicians, customer service, and compliance teams to resolve shipment issues
- 5Oversee hazmat documentation and labeling in alignment with IATA and IMDG guidelines
- 6Prepare and file important regulatory documents for international shipments (IMO, AES, ISF) with accuracy
- 7Negotiate expenses for freight and services to maintain cost efficiency
- 8Maintain relationships with subcontractors and optimize operational workflows for supervisors
- 9Track shipments end to end and provide proactive updates to stakeholders
- 10Improve operational efficiency through process improvements and standard operating procedures
Requirements5
- 13+ years of relevant freight forwarding experience and shipping operations
- 2Experience filing IMO, AES, ISF documents and processing DOT compliant shipments
- 3Experience with UPS/FedEx software or equivalents and basic MS Office tools
- 4Knowledge of 49 CFR, 15 CFR, DOT, IATA, IMDG regulations
- 5Proficiency in English and Chinese Mandarin for business communication
