Field Service Technician, Bakery Equipment & PLCs
Overview
You will own installations, startups, troubleshooting, and on-site support for PLC-controlled automated production lines for a leading bakery equipment provider. You will work independently across North America, supporting high-value lines with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, plus ABB robotics. You will collaborate with project teams remotely and on-site, becoming the customer's trusted expert. This role demands heavy travel, up to 3 weeks at a time, and offers variety across industrial food production environments.
What You'll Do7
- 1Install, commission, and start up automated production lines including ovens, proofers, coolers, and freezers across North America.
- 2Troubleshoot electrical, automation, and mechanical issues on Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs to minimize downtime.
- 3Support upgrades, retrofits, and production improvements on existing customer equipment.
- 4Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings to diagnose and resolve faults.
- 5Travel extensively to customer sites, often at short notice, with trips lasting up to 3 weeks.
- 6Work independently in the field, documenting service activities and communicating with project teams.
- 7Program and adjust ABB robotics for automated handling tasks within production lines.
Requirements7
- 14+ years of field service experience on industrial equipment, with a focus on bakery or food processing systems.
- 24+ years working with bakery equipment such as makeup lines, proofers, ovens, coolers, or freezers.
- 3Strong PLC troubleshooting skills, specifically with Allen-Bradley and Siemens controllers.
- 4Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics accurately.
- 5Comfort with heavy travel, including up to 3 weeks at a time across the U.S. and Canada.
- 6Authorization to work in the U.S. or Canada without sponsorship.
- 7Valid driver's license and passport for cross-border travel.
