Field Service Engineer - Automation | ProAutomated
Overview
You will own the startup and validation of automation systems across North America, supporting data center and warehouse projects. You'll partner with controls engineers to test, troubleshoot, and optimize complex machinery on-site. This role runs on travel rotations of 5, 10, or 14 days, with no office and direct customer contact. You'll get paid training, a clear growth path, and a 5% raise after six months. We're a people-first team where your manager has done your job.
What You'll Do9
- 1Support data center startups by performing mechanical, electrical, and control checks on critical infrastructure.
- 2Lead startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems in food and beverage.
- 3Partner with automation and controls engineers to test, troubleshoot, and validate their systems on-site.
- 4Provide clear communication and updates to customers and project teams to keep progress smooth.
- 5Travel on rotations (5 on/2 off, 10 on/4 off, 14 on/7 off) to new cities and project sites across North America.
- 6Adapt to changing plans and challenges, solving problems with programming and networking skills.
- 7Document test results and report issues to engineering teams for rapid resolution.
- 8Own your travel logistics, using your personal vehicle for local projects.
- 9Maintain safety standards and physical readiness for walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Requirements8
- 13+ years of hands-on experience in a related field such as electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering.
- 2Working knowledge of electrical systems, programming, and communication networking.
- 3Genuine love of travel, with ability to be away from home on rotation.
- 4Adaptability and grit, thriving when plans change and challenges pop up.
- 5Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- 6Must live within 50 miles of a major airport (relocation assistance available).
- 7Personal vehicle within 45 days of employment for local projects.
- 8Authorized to work in the U.S.
