Overview

Fiberglass Masking & Taping Technician will own the prep and masking for gelcoat applications at scale on valuable boat builds. You will join a Lamination team within a family-owned shipyard focused on quality and craftsmanship. You’ll work alongside the gelcoater crew and receive training while transitioning to evening shifts.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Build hull masking and masking stripes on boats for gelcoating.
  • 2Prepare molds and surfaces for gelcoating with attention to detail.
  • 3Follow detailed instructions, specifications, and diagrams to ensure quality.
  • 4Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure proper preparation.
  • 5Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • 6Contribute to quality and efficiency improvements.
  • 7Tape up boats for gelcoater including hull stripes and sides.

Requirements9

  • 1Experience with tape application, auto body, or willingness to learn.
  • 2Ability to read a tape measure and follow written verbal instructions.
  • 3Ability to work a 10-hour shift with standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion.
  • 4Comfortable working in a non climate-controlled environment (temps >100 F).
  • 5Dependable, reliable, and able to work overtime as needed.
  • 6Ability to wear PPE (respirators, gloves, chemical-resistant suits).
  • 7Team-oriented and attentive to detail.
  • 8Prior experience with fiberglass, sanding, grinding, or boat finishing (preferred).
  • 9Prior work in manufacturing, auto body, or construction environments (preferred).
