Electrician - Asphalt Plants
Overview
You own the electrical health of an asphalt production facility in Charlotte, NC. You'll install, maintain, and repair motors, conveyors, control panels, and lighting systems that keep production running. You'll work alongside plant operators and maintenance crews to diagnose faults and prevent downtime. This role demands hands-on expertise with PLCs, VFDs, and motor control circuits, against industrial conditions that test your skill.
What You'll Do8
- 1Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical components in asphalt plants, including motors, conveyors, control panels, and lighting systems.
- 2Maintain and inspect electrical wiring, circuits, and systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and codes.
- 3Diagnose electrical faults using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging devices.
- 4Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to reduce downtime and improve plant efficiency.
- 5Work with automation and control systems, including PLCs and VFDs.
- 6Collaborate with plant operators, maintenance personnel, and management to resolve electrical issues.
- 7Assist with upgrades, modifications, and new installations of electrical equipment.
- 8Maintain records of electrical maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
Requirements8
- 13+ years experience in industrial electrical maintenance, preferably in asphalt or aggregate plants.
- 2Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification.
- 3Knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., NEC).
- 4Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- 5Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, and motor control circuits.
- 6Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, using multimeters and thermal imaging.
- 7Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- 8Comfort working outdoors and in industrial environments, including extreme weather.
