Overview

You own automation systems from concept to commissioning, designing PLC and HMI controls for a production environment. You will architect control panels, safety circuits, and electrical systems to meet NEC and NFPA standards, while integrating FANUC, ABB, or KUKA robots with precision. This role sits with a national recruiting firm's client in Philadelphia, requiring onsite presence Monday through Friday. You will debug and tune motion control systems using VFDs and servo drives, and build SCADA interfaces for real-time data visualization. What You'll Do10

  • 1Lead controls engineering projects from concept to commissioning, including system architecture, specifications, and safety design.
  • 2Design control panels, safety circuits, and electrical systems in compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and RIA standards.
  • 3Review panel fabrication, field wiring, and installation to ensure alignment with design and safety requirements.
  • 4Program and debug PLC and HMI systems using Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
  • 5Integrate and commission industrial robots from FANUC, ABB, KUKA, and Yaskawa.
  • 6Develop HMI/SCADA interfaces for control, monitoring, and data visualization.
  • 7Design and tune motion control systems including VFDs, servo drives, and DC drives.
  • 8Create and maintain electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools.
  • 9Implement DAQ systems and integrate with SQL databases for reporting and analysis.
  • 10Conduct root cause analysis for automation failures and implement corrective actions.

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 23+ years of experience in controls engineering with strong PLC programming skills in Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block.
  • 3Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI platforms.
  • 4Proven ability to design safety systems for industrial automation, familiar with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and RIA codes.
  • 5Knowledge of industrial networks including EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, and Modbus.
  • 6Experience with robotics integration (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or Yaskawa) preferred.
  • 7Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • 8Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft Office suite.
  • 9Ability to perform electrical load calculations and power distribution design.
  • 10Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective action.
