Overview
5+ years of industrial automation experience. Design, develop, and commission PLC controls with Beckhoff TwinCAT and Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) for advanced machinery. Own control system architecture from concept through validation, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and software teams. Drive machine commissioning, system integration, and root cause analysis in a contract-to-hire role.
What You'll Do9
- 1Develop PLC software using Beckhoff TwinCAT and Structured Text to control automated machinery.
- 2Design control algorithms and machine sequences, integrating HMIs, motion control, and safety systems.
- 3Integrate EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus TCP networks with sensors and actuators.
- 4Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and software issues in lab and production, using root cause analysis.
- 5Commission systems on-site, supporting startup, validation, and field debugging with AutoCAD Electrical.
- 6Design control panels and power distribution, ensuring compliance with UL508A and NFPA 79.
- 7Collaborate with mechanical and systems engineering to align machine design with control requirements.
- 8Maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specs.
- 9Mentor junior engineers in PLC programming and industrial automation best practices.
Requirements10
- 15+ years developing PLC-based control systems with Beckhoff TwinCAT and Structured Text (IEC 61131-3).
- 2Bachelor's in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 3Experience commissioning and debugging industrial automation, including servo drives and EtherCAT.
- 4Proficiency in control panel design, power distribution, and electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
- 5Strong knowledge of industrial networks: EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC-UA.
- 6Experience with safety systems and safety PLCs, plus UL508A and NFPA 79 standards.
- 7Track record of troubleshooting machine issues via root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- 8Ability to work independently, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- 9Familiarity with vision systems, robotics, or barcode/RFID is a plus.
- 10Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries preferred.
