Director Mechanical Engineering, Data Center Systems
Overview
Lead the mechanical design and engineering of data center spaces for current and future projects across multiple locations. Own the strategy for design, standards, and commissioning from concept through construction. Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Facilities to ensure scalable, reliable, and cost-conscious infrastructure for hyperscale customers. This role blends leadership, technical excellence, and cross-functional influence in a fast-evolving industry.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the mechanical design and engineering efforts across projects ensuring alignment with corporate goals
- 2Direct technical roadmap and standardization for data center mechanical systems and product development
- 3Coordinate with Cross-discipline teams and external vendors to drive on-time delivery and quality
- 4Represent the organization in industry forums to stay ahead of trends and regulatory changes
- 5Oversee QA/QC processes and mentor the mechanical SME team to deliver high-quality work
- 6Manage project budgets and schedules balancing technical requirements with business priorities
- 7Provide technical support to Sales and Marketing to articulate value propositions
- 8Develop and maintain design standards aligned with company vision and industry benchmarks
- 9Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned into processes
- 10Lead site assessments, basis of design, and construction documents across facilities
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 2P.E. license preferred
- 38+ years in a management role and 15+ years in mechanical design and construction
- 4Experience leading multi-discipline teams including Electrical, Architectural, and Civil
- 5Extensive data center design, construction, commissioning, and operations knowledge
- 6Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- 7Familiar with PipeFlow, CFD, and other engineering analysis tools
- 8Knowledge of ASHRAE codes and building codes in NA, CSA/MEP familiarity
- 9Willingness to travel 15-25%
- 10Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Navisworks
