Mechanical Superintendent, Data Center Piping & HVAC
Overview
Owns on site mechanical construction and maintenance for data center projects at scale focusing on process piping, chillers, water cooling, and CRAH units. Lead multiple crews and coordinate schedules across DFW sites with occasional travel. Establish safety, quality, and commissioning readiness while aligning with client expectations and project milestones. This role stands out through hands on data center mechanical expertise and cross functional collaboration.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and supervise mechanical crews and subcontractors across data center sites ensuring work meets project specifications and safety requirements
- 2Lead and coordinate schedules and resources to deliver on time and within budget while maintaining quality controls
- 3Inspect mechanical work and enforce QA procedures to ensure reliable system performance
- 4Conduct regular on site safety meetings, promote a strong safety culture, and address incidents with corrective actions
- 5Develop and maintain detailed work plans for mechanical activities and adapt to critical path milestones
- 6Coordinate with electrical, controls, and MEP teams to align mechanical work with overall project timelines
- 7Manage tools, equipment, and materials for mechanical tasks ensuring availability and proper use
- 8Interpret blueprints and P&IDs to guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems
- 9Provide technical guidance on process piping, HVAC, CRAH units, water cooling systems, switchgear, and UPS
- 10Document daily logs, progress, inspections, and corrective actions for reporting and compliance
Requirements10
- 15+ years of experience in construction supervision of mechanical work on data center or commercial projects
- 2Hands on mechanical background with experience in HVAC, process piping, and related disciplines
- 3Experience as a site supervisor or in a role leading mechanical crews or subcontractors
- 4Strong computer skills and experience using project management tools such as Procore or similar
- 5Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs and align work with project timelines
- 6Excellent communication skills with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients
- 7Commitment to safety with adherence to on site safety protocols
- 8Willingness to travel between project sites as needed
- 9Background in data center mechanical systems including CRAH units, chillers, and water cooling systems
- 10Project management experience including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and progress reporting
Salary Insight
$110 - $130k per year
