What You'll Do7

  • 1Assemble meal trays per dietary orders and portion control standards, adjusting for texture modifications and allergies.
  • 2Cook and prep ingredients such as vegetables, starches, and proteins following the facility's cycle menu.
  • 3Serve meals during breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts, ensuring each resident receives the correct tray.
  • 4Sanitize kitchen surfaces, carts, and utensils after each meal service using approved chemicals.
  • 5Label and store leftovers and opened food items to meet Food Handlers guidelines.
  • 6Track inventory of dry goods and refrigerated items, notifying the Cook when stock runs low.
  • 7Support the Dietary Manager with monthly sanitation audits and temperature logs.

Requirements7

  • 1High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2Food Handlers Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
  • 31+ year in food service or healthcare dietary setting.
  • 4Read and follow written menus and recipes with accuracy.
  • 5Apply food safety rules including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention.
  • 6Communicate clearly with residents, families, and kitchen staff.
  • 7Stand for 8-hour shifts and lift up to 50 pounds.
