Development Coordinator, Fundraising & Donor Relations
Overview
The Development Coordinator owns donor processing and stewardship for AFA's fundraising program at scale, reporting to the VP of Philanthropy. You will handle donation entry, donor records, acknowledgments, and prospect research, supporting annual campaigns and special appeals. This role serves as an entry point into nonprofit fundraising with learning and growth opportunities as core competencies are met. Collaborate closely with the development team in a hybrid, Arlington-based environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce and generate fundraising reports to measure activity and impact
- 2Process donations timely and ensure data integrity for giving history and contact information
- 3Write and facilitate gift acknowledgments, welcome packets, and tax receipts to enhance donor stewardship
- 4Conduct prospect research on individuals, foundations, and corporations using public and paid resources to support cultivation
- 5Prepare prospect profiles and briefing materials for staff and leadership to inform outreach and solicitation
- 6Assist with data and list preparation for annual fund campaigns and multi-channel appeals (mail, email, social, web)
- 7Provide administrative support to the development team and coordinate routine donor stewardship activities
- 8Reconcile gift records with finance and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency
- 9Serve as a point of contact for members and donors, delivering a professional and helpful experience
- 10Handle hybrid work logistics and travel as needed to support events and activities
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or related field or 1-2 years of related experience
- 2Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- 3Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer service mindset
- 4Critical thinking with the ability to synthesize information
