Overview

You will own gas generation project development from site identification through construction handoff for AES Renewables & Power, a business that powers data centers and other large-load customers. You will collaborate with Commercial, Data Center Development, Solutions Engineering, and other teams to build integrated Powered Land Solutions. This role sits at the intersection of project development, infrastructure, and commercial strategy, working with experts across engineering, finance, legal, and construction. What You'll Do10

  • 1Lead gas generation project development from site identification through construction support.
  • 2Partner with Commercial, Data Center Development, and Solutions Engineering teams to develop integrated Powered Land Solutions.
  • 3Evaluate project feasibility by coordinating siting, fuel supply, interconnection, and permitting strategies.
  • 4Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, financial models, and development risk registers.
  • 5Drive pipeline identification, utility engagement, and fuel supply strategy while supporting commercial negotiations.
  • 6Coordinate with engineering consultants, permitting agencies, landowners, and utility companies to advance project milestones.
  • 7Support discretionary permitting, public meetings, regulatory engagement, and environmental diligence.
  • 8Manage contracts and ensure compliance with site control, fuel supply, and commercial agreements.
  • 9Identify project risks, recommend mitigations, and report updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • 10Lead successful project handoffs to Construction after development milestones are achieved.

Requirements10

  • 13+ years developing natural gas generation or other large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
  • 2Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 3Knowledge of project development, permitting, utility coordination, interconnection, and commercial contracting.
  • 4Experience with fuel supply strategies, utilities, pipeline operators, or integrated energy infrastructure.
  • 5Familiarity with gas generation technologies such as GE and Siemens turbines.
  • 6Ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams.
  • 7Experience supporting data centers, large-load customers, or powered land projects (preferred).
  • 8Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • 9Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • 10Ability to balance multiple projects in a dynamic environment and travel as needed.
