Deployment Engineer, Battery & Utility Operations
Overview
Own the operational pipeline that takes utility partnerships from signed contract to Permission to Operate (PTO), scaling battery deployments across new markets. You'll build internal systems, coordinate with utility partners, and troubleshoot deployment issues, ensuring thousands of batteries come online reliably. Work with CRM tools to track pipeline health and collaborate with field, marketing, and business operations teams. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and operations, offering direct impact on America's grid transformation.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build internal systems and operational procedures to deploy thousands of batteries, defining workflows for interconnection agreements and inspections.
- 2Serve as primary technical contact for utility partners on deployment operations, resolving issues in installation timelines and safety.
- 3Develop data collection systems to drive continuous process improvements, using CRM analytics to spot bottlenecks.
- 4Troubleshoot and triage operational problems, keeping disruption minimal and resolution swift.
- 5Implement pipeline automations and operational foundations so new partnerships scale without friction.
- 6Own daily pipeline health across partner queues: catch aging deals, make config changes, and clean CRM records to keep deployments moving.
- 7Coordinate handoffs between field teams and partners to maintain install quotas and prevent last-minute scheduling changes.
- 8Run deployment feasibility studies to assess operational challenges in new utility regions.
- 9Collaborate with utility teams to define operational requirements that work for both sides and keep deployment standards consistent.
Requirements9
- 13+ years in operations, program management, or partnerships with multi-disciplinary collaboration.
- 2Experience in energy, utilities, construction, or field services operations (preferred).
- 3Hands-on experience with mechanical or electromechanical systems.
- 4Track record of building external partner relationships and clearing process bottlenecks.
- 5Experience developing processes and procedures for field work or manufacturing.
- 6Familiarity with utility companies, interconnection agreements, or regulated energy markets (a plus).
- 7Comfort owning a CRM as system of record, with clean data discipline.
- 8Strong written and verbal communication, detail-oriented, able to track dozens of deals simultaneously.
- 9Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, or industrial engineering, or equivalent experience.
