What You'll Do9
- 1Perform dental prophylaxis and periodontal therapy using hand scalers and ultrasonic instruments on a daily patient schedule.
- 2Conduct oral cancer screenings using Velscope and interpret digital x-rays to identify issues early.
- 3Document patient medical histories and update records in the electronic medical record system for accurate care.
- 4Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques and preventive care, tailoring recommendations to individual needs.
- 5Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed, following state regulations and patient safety protocols.
- 6Collaborate with the dentist to develop treatment plans and refer for specialist care when necessary.
- 7Assist with patient flow and sterilization of operatory rooms between appointments, maintaining a clean environment.
- 8Use Diagnodent and digital scanners to detect caries and create precise impressions for restorations.
- 9Mentor new staff on hygiene protocols and share best practices during team meetings.
Requirements8
- 1Current Florida dental hygienist license and Associate's or Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.
- 22+ years of clinical dental hygiene experience preferred.
- 3CPR Certification current and maintained.
- 4Proficiency with Velscope, Diagnodent, digital scanners, and digital x-ray systems.
- 5Experience with electronic medical record systems for patient charting.
- 6Strong knowledge of dental hygiene procedures, patient screening, and medical history documentation.
- 7Physical ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 45 pounds.
- 8Availability to attend virtual training sessions and complete a TB test as required.
