Controller - Manufacturing, Denver CO
Overview
You will build and lead the accounting function for a rapidly growing manufacturing organization in Denver. This is the company's first dedicated accounting leadership role, transitioning operations from outsourced providers. You will own the full accounting lifecycle, from daily operations to financial close, and prepare the company for its first external audit. You will lead the implementation of a new ERP system and establish policies, procedures, and internal controls. This role reports to senior leadership and partners closely with operations, supply chain, and engineering to drive financial accuracy and scalability.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and manage internal accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations, previously handled by external providers.
- 2Establish accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support a rapidly scaling organization.
- 3Develop and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process with clear timelines and accuracy standards.
- 4Prepare financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- 5Lead preparation for and management of the company's first external financial audit.
- 6Serve as the finance lead for implementation of the company's ERP system.
- 7Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure accurate financial and operational data flow.
- 8Implement systems to track inventory, fixed assets, and capital project spending, including construction-in-progress and project cost tracking.
- 9Partner with leadership and FP&A to translate financial results into actionable insights.
- 10Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team as the company scales.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
- 212+ years of progressive accounting experience, including within a growing company environment.
- 3Strong cost accounting and manufacturing accounting experience required.
- 4Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- 5Experience leading ERP implementations or major financial system transitions.
- 6Strong technical accounting skills combined with a hands-on leadership approach.
- 7Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- 8Preferred: Experience building an accounting function from the ground up or transitioning from outsourced accounting to in-house.
- 9Preferred: Experience in manufacturing, clean energy, or capital project-driven industries.
- 10Preferred: Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and project-based accounting, plus preparing for or managing a first-time financial audit.
Salary Insight
$200 - $235k per year
