Overview
This Manufacturing Controller role in Charlotte, NC owns daily accounting operations and monthly close for a growing manufacturing business. Reporting directly to leadership, you'll direct a team through QuickBooks, Paychex, and planned ERP upgrades, while shaping budgets and forecasts. You'll partner with ownership to translate financial data into strategic decisions, driving profitability and scale. With 7+ years of experience, you'll step in to enhance internal controls and support the company's expansion trajectory from day one.
What You'll Do9
- 1Direct daily accounting across general ledger, payables, receivables, and cash flow using QuickBooks to ensure accurate, timely financials.
- 2Own the monthly close, delivering financial statements and management reports to leadership within 5 business days.
- 3Build annual budgets, forecasts, and margin analyses that guide leadership on pricing and cost management.
- 4Analyze project and manufacturing costs, identifying trends and risks to improve profitability in a contract manufacturing environment.
- 5Oversee invoicing and collections, enforcing controls on vendor payments and customer account accuracy.
- 6Partner with ownership and department heads to explain financial results and recommend data-driven actions.
- 7Strengthen accounting processes and internal controls, documenting procedures to support a scaling organization.
- 8Coordinate bi-weekly payroll through Paychex, verifying accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.
- 9Drive finance system improvements, including migration to a new ERP platform, ensuring data integrity and user adoption.
Requirements7
- 17+ years of accounting or finance experience, with 2+ years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.
- 2Proven expertise in month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting in a manufacturing setting.
- 3Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks and experience processing payroll via Paychex.
- 4Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and communicate insights to non-financial leadership.
- 5Adaptable and hands-on, comfortable in a small company environment with direct involvement in daily operations.
- 6Prior experience in contract manufacturing or project-based revenue environments is preferred.
- 7Excellent collaboration and communication skills to build trust across departments and with ownership.
